mimik, a global pioneer in device-first Continuum AI and agentic software, has taken a major step toward redefining artificial intelligence infrastructure by launching mimik UAE in partnership with Next71 Ltd and ASK Holding LLC. Announced during Abu Dhabi Autonomous Week, this strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) marks a significant milestone in the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) journey to become a world leader in AI and sovereign technology development (Financial Post). The initiative aligns with Abu Dhabi’s vision, under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council (AIATC), to strengthen the nation’s digital autonomy and innovation ecosystem.

According to Sara Dhafer Alahbabi, Director of SPV and Portfolio Relations at Next71, the establishment of mimik UAE represents a leap toward building “a smart, sustainable economy where intelligence exists everywhere, for everyone” (Business Wire). The goal is to empower industries and innovators with localized AI solutions that operate autonomously, securely, and efficiently, pushing artificial intelligence beyond the confines of centralized cloud systems and into every level of daily life across the Emirates. Through mimik’s device-first approach, intelligence can now live at the edge, embedded within devices, vehicles, and infrastructure, transforming cities into interconnected, adaptive systems capable of real-time decision-making.

ASK Holding echoed this transformative vision, emphasizing that the collaboration is not about following another fleeting technological trend but about creating “sovereign intelligence where life happens on our roads, in our ports, across our factories, and in every small business” (Financial Post). The joint venture reflects a shift from a “cloud-first” to a “citizen-first” AI model, prioritizing privacy, resilience, and real-time functionality. This decentralized approach not only improves data sovereignty but also lays the foundation for new industries, job creation, and safer, smarter communities built in Abu Dhabi for the UAE.

mimik’s CEO, Fay Arjomandi, described this shift as entering the “age of the agentic economy,” a new era moving away from the traditional cloud-dominated, app-based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model toward one defined by billions of autonomous, intelligent agents working across a distributed Knowledge-as-a-Service (KaaS) economy. This next-generation economy is expected to be valued in the trillions and requires a robust, decentralized software infrastructure capable of handling dynamic, context-driven intelligence (Business Wire).

At the heart of this transformation is mimik’s Device-First Continuum AI, a system designed to empower edge devices such as sensors, robots, and machines to become self-aware and contextually intelligent. These devices can process data locally and collaborate seamlessly with other machines and humans to form an adaptive, decentralized intelligence network. Unlike traditional cloud architectures that rely heavily on centralized processing, this edge-based model offers significant advantages in sovereignty, sustainability, and energy efficiency (mimik).

By establishing mimik UAE, the partners aim to make Abu Dhabi the epicenter of what they call the “agentic future”, a future where intelligence exists not in isolated data centers but within the very fabric of society. The joint venture will serve as a cornerstone for developing industrial edge AI, fostering advanced local talent, and ensuring that the UAE remains at the forefront of AI innovation. It also represents a commitment to developing technologies that are not only high-performing but also ethical, sustainable, and accessible to all sectors of society.

Ultimately, the creation of mimik UAE embodies Abu Dhabi’s broader ambition to become the world’s leading hub for physical AI, an ecosystem where distributed intelligence fuels economic growth, sustainability, and human advancement. As Arjomandi explained, mimik’s agentic-native software provides the essential tech stack for this evolving economy, offering enterprises operational freedom, scalability, and control as they navigate the AI-driven future. Through this partnership, the UAE is not merely adopting artificial intelligence; it is shaping its next frontier, turning devices into intelligent collaborators that redefine how data, industries, and communities interact.
